[NB You really need the MashLogic Plug In to Appreciate this post]

Once upon a time (and a very good time it was) – sorry its easier if I bite – the bullet

  • 1. When I was young I used to read science fiction. Starting with H.G. Wells all the usual stuff to more exotica. Anyway It was Anne McCaffrey .org and .net that got me going but it wasn’t until I came across “Dragonflight” that the love affair began. ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonriders_of_Pern . The Old St George crap held no sway

    120px-Paolo_Uccello_050,

niether nightmare beasts. No Dragons were pets, pretty goddam lethal powerful pets that could fly and breathe fire……

  • 2. When I was a hippy (omg how I love that phrase, so I’ll say it again) When I was a hippy I took mind-altering substances. Yep, Me and Tim Leary and Richard Alpert and Carlos Castenada were best buddies. I also came across the I Ching, as many a hippy did. None of your poncy paperbacks nah, Carl Jung stuff. No I won’t talk about Dragons being Jungian Archetypes just because they appear in Every society. Anyway. The Horse symbolised The Earth and what symbolised heaven? Ok, You have my roots.
  • 3. I love old books and I am a traveller ergo I love old maps. Ever seen one? Go Look at one. The suspicious places, the ones the explorers and map makers weren’t sure of, the dangerous places, got marked, “Hic sunt dracones” Here Be Dragons “The dragon (draco) is a sub-species of the serpents (cf. Isidore of Seville, Etymologiae XII,4,4: “Draco maior cunctorum serpentium …”); most medieval maps have Dragon’s Here marks

  • 4. Not boring you am I? Anyway I travelled the Seven Seas well not all of them but I added a few Oceans and The Nile ~ Never actually saw a Dragon tho, well there was this one time going up the Nile in the Sudd watching an electrical storm over The Mountains of The Moon [ref: The term Mountains of the Moon or Montes Lunae referred to a mountain range in central Africa that was long believed to be the source of the White Nile, but whose actual location was—and remains—uncertain., no just my imagination. ] I Lived in Jungles, on Desert Islands and encoutered a few wannabe Shangri-La s in the Himalayas. btw I wonder what ever happened to my smoking jacket? It was red and black satin with a beautiful embroidered…..lost I guess. So Me and Dragons we got a history…..
  • 5. Japan had a powerful influence on me and John had his Yoko, I had my Megumi. We got married and spent our honeymoon in Maui. Ooooh Volcanos oooo Mt Halekala o dragon country. I Am Boring You! I’ll shut up
  • 6. Long Story Short : Got educated royally, pactised Probation Oficering for too long, started my own business, thought I was a Celtic Tiger, Heaven beat me up for being so bold, yes it was probably a Dragon, not a Chinese Dragon but a relative. A Celtic Dragon. I had no option I lost evrything when the Internet bubble burst…..
